Raipur, Aug 10: Chhattisgarh has sent a five-member team to Jammu and Kashmir's Leh town, which was devastated by floods last week, to help trace missing people, an official said today.

The team left late on Monday after reports suggested that dozens of men and women belonging to Chhattisgarh's Janjgir district were missing in Leh.

The team, comprising local officials and a villager, was formed by Janjgir district authorities on instructions from Chief Minister Raman Singh, the official said.

The Janjgir district administration has also set up a control room and appealed to people to provide information about the missing people who had been working in Leh.

The toll in the devastating flash floods caused by Friday's cloudburst rose to 165 today. Hundreds of people are reported to have been still missing even as relief and rescue operations continue in Leh town and 12 villages adjacent to it. (IANS)
