New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today condemned the suicide bombing at the Marriott Hotel in the Pakistani capital that killed at least 46 people. In a letter to his counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani, Singh said that such attacks were a grim reminder of the challenges both countries faced from destructive forces. "Such attacks are a grim reminder of the challenges we face from destructive forces which have pitted themselves against the values of democracy and pluralism and the voices of moderation," said Singh.

"They threaten the peace, stability and development of each of us individually and all of us collectively. We must not allow such forces to succeed. They must be dealt with and brought to justice," said the prime minister. A suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden truck into the hotel gate, engulfing the building in flames. A large portion of the 290-room hotel was destroyed in the attack. (IANS)
