Indo-Pak: On the way to achieve joint progress
New Delhi: The Pakistan Rangers, during recently concluded meeting at Lahore with the Border Security Force (BSF), assured the latter that they would leave no stone unturned in stopping the trans-border crimes. The border guarding forces of the two countries exchanged views on resolving the long standing border and territorial disputes along over 2,000 kilometres Indo-Pak border.

This was the first ever meeting since Pakistan President, Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister, Yusaf Raza Gilani sworn in. The bi-annual meeting held between October 13 and 16 was led by Major General Mohhammad Yakub Khan, Pakistan Rangers and U K Bansal, Additional Director General, BSF. They discussed issues like construction close to the international boundary, intrusions of armed men in Indian territory, fake Indian currency notes and smuggling of narcotics and drugs.

A senior BSF officer told Headlines India, on the condition of anonymity, that both the forces agreed to urge the respective governments to establish communication facilities between sector and commander level officers, and exchange of actionable intelligence in order to curb violation of the sanctity of the border. "BSF regards the meeting as an achievement to build strong foundation of understanding between us," the officer said.
