| New Delhi, July 6: A consortium of seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will help the environment ministry in cleaning the river Ganga.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday by the environment ministry and human resource development ministry for developing the Ganga River Basin Management Plan (GRBMP), which will detail comprehensive measures for restorating the Ganga system and improve its ecological health.
The plan will aim to have adequate provision for water and energy in the Ganga basin to accommodate the pressures of increased population, urbanisation, industrialisation and agriculture while ensuring the sanctity of the river. (IANS) |
