New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the nature trail at her official residence here would be developed as a biodiversity park.

Dikshit said this after launching the Delhi plantation drive from her official 3, Motilal Nehru Place residence where a number of school children planted different species of saplings.

"With plantation of large number of herbal and medicinal plants and extended greenery, it would turn out to be a most exciting place to visit within the city in Lutyens Zone area," an official statement said.

The present nature trail at Dikshit's official residence remains open for school children every Tuesday and Friday.

The chief minister exhorted children to help in expansion of the green area in the national capital.

"It has been decided to plant at least 1.2 million saplings this year. Apart from this, more than 600,000 saplings would be distributed free of cost from DMS booths, Mother Dairy booths, Kendriya Bhandars and petrol pumps. Nine new city forests would be developed taking total number of city forests to 41," the statement added.(IANS)
