Forest Minister reviews Himachal's forest department

Keylong: J.P. Nadda, Forest Minister of who is currently on tour to the tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh held a meeting to review the progress of the on-going activities of the Forest Department at Spiti today. He also visited Pin Valley and took details about the maintenance and other activities in Pin Valley National Park.

While reviewing the 'Snow Leopard Project' being implemented in the valley, he said that State Government had prepared a scheme worth Rs. 1.40 crore for proper implementation of the Project during 2009-10 and had submitted it to the Centre Government for funding. He stressed upon formulating a proper management policy for protection of wild life with the help of participation of the people.

He further said that management policy was being formulated for the protected area in the Spiti Valley, which would also help in preserving the wild life. He also reviewed the availability of fuel and construction wood in the valley and also directed to open depots to meet out the requirements the people.

Shri Ram Lal Markanday MLA and senior officers were present in the meeting.
