Striking Bollywood workers, producers to hold talks today

Mumbai: The strike by Bollywood technicians and workers can be called off on Saturday if the producers' association agrees to their demands at a meeting today evening, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) said late on Thursday.

In a meeting held late on Thursday evening for initial talks, FWICE gave 'a final ultimatum' to the the leading producers' body for giving in writing the acceptance of the demands and signing an agreement between the two. "We want everything in writing and there will be no compromise in it," said FWICE general secretary Dinesh Chaturvedi.

"We have spoken to the producers' body and fixed up a meeting for tomorrow where they have to agree to our demands, otherwise the strike is going to continue indefinitely," Chaturvedi said on Thursday. "If the demands are not fulfilled we will not allow anyone to work," added Chaturvedi.

The prominent people who represented the producers' body included Producers' Guild president Mukesh Bhatt, IMPPA president T P Agarwal and AMPTPP president Ratan Jain. The FWICE was represented by its president Dharmesh Tiwari, secretary Chaturvedi and others. (IANS)
