| Kolkata, May 18: The first commercial film by Kreations Productions was launched on Monday evening in the presence of the entire cast and crew at Soho Lifestyle Kitchen and Bar. Mr. Sekhar Das, an award winning filmmaker, has taken the responsibility of directing the film Necklace. This is expected to be a complete entertainer with Kolkata as the backdrop. The film portrays the lives of two couples hailing from different social strata but find their lives getting intertwined.
While talking to HeadlinesIndia, director Sekhar Das clarified that his film is neither taken from Maupassant's story and nor it has been adapted from the 1961 Uttam Kumar-starrer. When asked about the genre of his film he stated that it is difficult to categorise 'Necklace' into a particular genre.
Adapted from a short story by Pracheta Gupta, Necklace is a film that allowed director to deal with an urban subject. Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr Sekhar Das said "I read Pracheta Gupta's short stories in a Bengali fortnightly roughly 4 years back and decided to adopt the story for an entertaining film. When Kreations approached me for a 'low' budget but a 'good cinema', I proposed them this story, which they readily agreed."
The director also pointed out the fact that his close aides and friends have been urging him to make a film on Kolkata, the city where he was born. Unlike his earlier films like 'Mahulbanir Sereng' (The songs of Mahulbani) and 'Kaler Rakhal' (The Understudy) his upcoming venture 'Necklace' zeroes in completely on city life. This scintillating entertainer is the first attempt on the director's part to uphold the life in a metropolis.
Necklace is a multi-star film with actors like Rituparna Sengupta, Locket Chatterjee, Rudranil Ghose, Ritwik Chakraborty, Chandrayee Ghose, Biplab Chatterjee, Dipankar Dey and host of others will be seen doing their bit.
When asked about the best part about the film 'Necklace', actor Rudranil Ghosh said, "The film has a brilliant subject. If I recommend someone to go and watch this film, I would tell him/her to take a note of the subject." Seemingly impressed with the theme, the actor further added. "I was impressed the very first day when Sekhar da (Mr. Sekhar Das) told me the story of the film."
The film is due to start shooting on 19th May.
