| Ranchi: The Election Commission monitored through web cameras polling in two booths in a Maoist stronghold in the fourth round of the Jharkhand elections, an official said today.
Both booths are in Potka assembly constituency. "This is being done for the first time on an experimental basis," Joint Chief Election Commissioner of Jharkhand Ashok Kumar told the media.
The monitoring was done both at the Jharkhand Election Commission office in Ranchi and at the head office in New Delhi.
"In the fifth phase (Dec 18) we shall be able to monitor more booths live through cameras," said Sinha.
In the fourth phase, voting took place in 14 of the 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand. Most seats are in Maoist strongholds. (IANS) |
