Sweet revenge for Sampat Singh

Chandigarh: For former Haryana finance minister Sampat Singh it was a sweet political revenge today when he defeated former chief minister Bhajan Lal's wife in the state assembly polls.

Singh, who was a minister in the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) government earlier, was defeated by Bhajan Lal in the election to the Hisar Lok Sabha seat in May earlier this year by a margin of just 7,000 votes.

Singh avenged his defeat by defeating Jasma Devi, the wife of Bhajan Lal and mother of Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) president Kuldeep Bishnoi, from the Nalwa assembly seat by over 10,900 votes.

Singh had switched from the INLD to Congress just two months back. (IANS)
