Former ministers of Jharkhand win elections from jail

Ranchi: Three ex ministers of Jharkhand who were charged with corruption cases and are now in jail, stood in the recent assembly polls with two of them emerging victorious and one of them losing the election.

Former minister of the state, Hari Narayan Rai is presently behind bars charged with disproportionate property case. He stood in the elections from Jarmundi constituency by remaining inside jail as an autonomous candidate and emerged victorious with 10,487 votes. In the year 2005, Rai won independently from Jarmundi.

Enos Ekka, another ex minister who is also charged with the same case was found to retain his Kolebira seat from being behind bars. Ekka won from the Jharkhand Party (Ekka) ticket.

Kamlesh Kumar Singh, another ex minister and NCP leader who is charged with corruption case and is also in jail stood in the elections from the Hussainabad seat, but lost it.
