| Mumbai: The advent of the foreign universities could open up a new window of opportunities - not only for the students but also for the teachers. The faculty members of most of the academic institutions in India are not that well paid compared to their brethren who educate others in overseas institutions. However, this disparity could soon be a thing of the past.
A number of universities in America and Europe, that opened shop in India, have provided their faculty members with the same salary that they had been receiving in US or Europe. That could mean that the professors could now start looking for these institutions to teach so that they are compensated handsomely.
As per statistics, India pays its professors $1,547 on an average while in Saudi Arabia the amount is $6,611 and in Canada it amounts to $6,548. In USA the average salary of professors is $5,816.
However, a section of Indian academicians have also stated that it is not only the payment that attracts them to a university but a culmination of factors like students, overall atmosphere and the facilities at the disposal of the institution. |
