| New Delhi: With the Centre expressing its decision to withdraw the deemed university status of 44 universities across the country, the future of more than 2 lakh students in 13 states has become uncertain.
In order to safeguard the students' interests, the government has decided to change the status of these universities as colleges affiliated with their original universities. Students of Tamil Nadu are the worst affected as 16 of the 44 universities are located in the state. Most of these institutions are run by politicians with no professional approach.
The students, who have unfortunately enrolled here, have doubts about the future transition as such changes require a long time to get implemented. The worries of the students do not end here as they are more than anxious to know about upcoming grading system as they have not got any clarifications.
Indian government will soon finalise a legislative proposal to regulate the entry and of foreign education providers in India. More than 1, 19,000 students at the under-graduate and PG levels are enrolled under these institutions slated to be de-recognised. Moreover, 2,124 students pursuing M.Phil and Ph.D programmes are also in a state of worry about their future course. |
