New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to the Delhi Public School (DPS), Rohini, after a parent alleged that the school violated the guidelines on nursery admissions. Justice S. Ravindra Bhat issued notices to the school and the Delhi government's directorate of education, and asked them to file their response by Feb 24.

The court's move came on a petition by advocate Tarun Diwan whose son was denied admission to the nursery class at the DPS, Rohini, for 2009-10.

The boy and his parents fulfilled all criteria for the admission but the school management altered the guidelines on its own even as they accepted application forms from others who were not eligible, the petitioner said.

"Setting a criterion contrary to recommendations, directions or guidelines issued by the directorate of education pursuant to the Ashok Ganguly Committee report is arbitrary and illegal," the petitioner stated before the court. (IANS)
