| Ahmedabad: Following the significant shortcomings that kept cropping up in the original computerised Common Admission Test across India, the various IIMs have decided to reappraise the contract with Prometric, the US based firm that was responsible for arranging the examinations.
Samir K Barua, the managing director of IIM Ahmedabad has said it would be reviewing the performance of the American organization in the wake of the technical problems that were experienced by students appearing for the examination. He made these statements when asked if Prometric would be in charge of CAT in 2010 like this year itself.
Incidentally, the CAT examinations kicked off on 28th November but several tests had to be postponed in the first few days after the systems, where the examinations were to be taken, were infected by virus.
Barua however added that the contract evaluation would be a time consuming procedure. He said that after the completion of the examinations the data would be collated and used for purposes of review. He reiterated that the contract was originally meant for five years.
The IIMS have provided extension to students who have been unable to take the tests owing to authentic reasons. Previously they had extended the examinations by a day to 8th December. |
