| Mumbai: The authorities of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) have planned to carry on with their present system of admissions by holding group discussions (GD) and personal interviews (PI) separately this year.
With the commencement of the new academic sessions of IIMs, the Union human resource development ministry of India had directed the b-schools to formulate a general admission process so that the students are relieved from the pain of traveling to different campuses for appearing in the GDs and PIs.
However, few IIM campuses have already commenced preparations to hold their admissions separately. The different eligibility conditions and the shortage of time are the major hurdles that are preventing the IIM authorities from formulating a general admission schedule. Moreover, the problems faced during the online CAT examinations have also aided in the delay of setting up a common admission system.
This IIM's decision to hold GDs and PIs independently is definitely a bad news for many aspiring management students. This decision indicates that the students will have to migrate from one part of the country to the other to appear for the admissions in different campuses of IIMs. Undoubtedly only handful candidates among hundreds of meritorious students will receive calls from IIMs due to this. |
