| Mumbai: The various Indian Institutes of Management are in the process of making the Common Admission Tests a year round affair. This is indeed a golden opportunity for students who have been setting their sights on gaining admission in these management schools that are operated by the central government. This decision would now permit the students to take the CAT exams at their convenience.
Satish Deodhar, the co-ordinator of CAT in IIM Ahmedabad has revealed that a significantly large data bank needs to be developed. He said once that is accomplished the logical development would be to let the students appear in the exams throughout the year. As per official the idea was originally mooted in 2009 itself but since there were not many questions at their disposal it could not be translated into reality.
Sources have also revealed that even though in 2009 thousands of questions had been created it was not sufficient enough as the amount required to pull this off was much more. The authorities are trying to follow the example of the GMAT and GRE conductors. They are trying to achieve that aim by 2011. The maximum time they might need to develop the database is three years.
The authorities are also making efforts to make CAT adaptive to computers much like GMAT. This means that the tests are suited to meet the capabilities of the students. This helps in making the tests less stressful. |
