CAT questions reproduced from coaching material: Experts

Hyderabad: The officials of the MBA coaching classes in Hyderabad has come up with a revelation that more than half of the questions in 2009 CAT were taken from their question banks.

Pointing out the sharp difference in the CAT question paper than that of the previous year, one of the officials state that unlike other years where less than 10% questions used to be familiar for the students, more than 50% of questions were lifted from coaching material this year.

The official further adds that IIMs have reproduced questions from coaching material and they have just made some changes in figures. The experts who conducted a six-day analysis of this year's CAT questions have come to a conclusion that a student who had taken mock CATs from two coaching centres would easily score a 100 percentile.

This report has got a mixed response as some seem to consider it as a positive sign for the first time test taker. However, the experienced candidates are talking in a different tone. They believe that the standard of CAT has come at par with that of ICET - a state level MBA examination.

A veteran test taker is of the opinion that now the candidates who had cleared over 70% of the questions may not get a call from reputed B-schools while previously, clearing 30 to 45% of the questions would mean a sure call from IIM.
