| Bangalore: In the history of 100 years, for the first time IISc is all set to introduce an under-graduate programme in science for students who desire to study the subject after PUC or class 12 . From the academic session of 2011, the institute has decided to provide a Bachelor in Science (BS) degree to prospective students.
The BS degree will comprise a unique combination of fundamental science collaborated with cultivating skills in engineering subjects. Besides continuing with basic science, students will be triggered to take up mandatory engineering subjects so that they can pursue further studies in the same which will increase their job prospects.
After two years of steady analysis on the advantages and disadvantages on the study of BS, the decision has come as a good news for the students. IISc's highest decision making body, The Council, has recently accepted the proposal.
Bachelors in Science has witnessed promotions in the degree ideas by two other top science academies in India namely Indian Academy of Sciences and Indian National Science Academy. The initiative of including undergraduate degree programme in recognized institutes is believed to increase students' indulgence in science. |
