| New Delhi: If you are planning to sit for civil services examinations in 2011 brace yourself to face a different pattern of examination. According to the recent reports, the government has given green signal to the proposal of introducing an aptitude test instead of the present preliminary examination.
It is through this aptitude test that the candidates will be shortlisted for the main exam.
As per the new rule, every candidate needs to appear in two objective-type papers, which will stress on testing their "aptitude for civil services" along with their ability to take ethical and moral decisions.
The candidates will be tested under a Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT).
Both the objective-type papers will be common to all candidates. There will be one optional paper, in which the candidate will be asked questions on any particular subject of his choice.
The new examination criteria will be effective for the first stage of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) starting from 2011 onwards. However, the examination and interview for the second and third stages will continue to remain the same in line with the existing rule. |
