| Mumbai: She is undoubtedly one of the living legends in Indian history of music and she is revered both within and outside India for her impeccable voice. Lata Mangeshkar, who turned 81 this September 28, claims that she feels like she is just 18 years old.
Lata Mangeshkar, on Wednesday, has been honoured with the Insignia of 'Officier de la Legion d'Honneur' (Officer of the Legion of Honour), which is France's highest civilian award.
She was addressing the august audience while accepting the honour here last evening at a function organised by the French government. The artist went on to add that although she turned 81 this year, yet she is very young at heart. Adding humour to it, she stated that she has deliberately reversed the order of the figure since she actually feels like an 18-year-old.
Thanking French government for conferring this honour to her, she affirmed that both France and India have stood for values like equality, liberty and fraternity.
The Legion of Honour can be conferred by the French Republic on both a French citizen and a foreigner. |
