New Delhi, Feb 22: A Delhi court hearing a retired major general's complaint alleging lapses in the purchase of communication gadgets by RAW official today asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a report on the action taken in the matter.

Maj. Gen. (retd) V.K. Singh, in his complaint alleged corruption by some officials of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India's external intelligence agency, and Special Protection Group (SPG), the executive protection agency of the government of India.

He said that officials purchased the communication equipment for the RAW and the SPG at exorbitant prices, without mandatory clearance.

CBI Special Judge Pradeep Chaddah said: "Issue notice to the CBI to inform the court about the status of the complaint and if the matter is still under progress, how much more time would be needed to finally dispose of the complaint."

V.K. Singh had made a complaint to the CBI but on allegedly getting no response from the probe agency, he moved court.

He authored a book, "India's External Intelligence - Secrets of the Research and Analysis Wing" after his retirement. He highlighted alleged corruption in the agency during his tenure.

He himself has been booked for charges under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly leaking sensitive information in his book.(IANS)
