BSF seizes fake currency in Punjab

| Ferozepur: Counterfeit Indian currency with the face value of Rs.10 lakh was recovered by the Border Security Force (BSF) in this border district of Punjab today, officials said.
"Working on a tip-off, we have dug out fake currency of Rs.10 lakh here at BOP (border outpost) Noorwala in Ferozepur sector. The currency notes are in a mixed denomination of Rs.100, Rs.500 and Rs.1,000," BSF's Punjab frontier Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jagir Singh told media.
He added: "The currency notes were in a bag, which was buried under the earth in the fields adjoining the international border. Miscreants had left certain landmarks to ascertain the exact location of the spot. We have started our investigation and increased vigil in the area."
BSF had seized 15 kg heroin from close to the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Ajnala sector on Feb 25.
