| Lucknow: A 25-year-old man was arrested early today in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad district for alleged possession of nearly 2,000 detonators and other explosives, police said.
"The suspect was nabbed early today in Allahabad district, from the Shankergarh area that borders Madhya Pradesh," police inspector Arvind Jaiswal told media over phone.
"Detonators, fuse wires, gelatine rods were seized from the man, who hails from the Maoist-infested Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh," he added.
According to police, during his interrogation, the suspect said he was going to Madhya Pradesh to hand over the explosives to some people there.
"We have apprised the Madhya Pradesh police about the arrest so that they are more alert to foil any Maoist attack," Jaiswal said.
