| Ujjain, May 4: Police in Madhya Pradesh today claimed to have busted a gang of criminals involved in illegal trading of firearms with the arrest of five people in Ujjain.
"On a tip off that a consignment of arms is about to be delivered in Ujjain from Dhar, a team laid a trap and arrested arms seller Kishore and Zakir late on Monday," Ujjain Superintendent of Police Satish Saxena told media.
"About 10 pistols and dozens of live cartridges were recovered from their possession," he said.
During interrogation, Zakir confessed to have sold arms in nearby villages of Nagda and Khachraud. "On the lead provided by Zakir, police arrested Firoz, Zahid Hussain and Mukesh from Nagda with some pistols and live cartridges," another police officer said.
Zakir has been involved in criminal activities for the past 10 years and was absconding, the officer added. (IANS) |
