| Raipur: Chhattisgarh Police today failed to make any headway in solving the mystery behind the discovery of 300 live cartridges from a pond in the state's Durg district, a senior police officer said.
Police late on Friday spotted several bags in a virtually dried up pond in the district's Charoda area on Friday and found them to contain some 300 live cartridges for .12 and .315 bore rifles.
A senior officer at the police headquarters told media that investigations were on, but it was possible that the cartridges might have been left by someone linked to urban network of Maoists as normally the leftists insurgents use .12 and .315 bore rifles.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has sought a high-level probe into the recovery of arms and ammunition from several parts of the state in recent months but the police had failed to crack even a single case. (IANS) |
