Rape victim commits suicide in Haryana

| Sonepat (Haryana): A teenaged girl killed herself near this Haryana town today following her alleged rape by two men.
The victim, aged 17, poured kerosene on herself at her house at Farmana village in Sonepat, 55 km from New Delhi, after alleging that she had been raped by two men.
The victim blamed the owner and contractor of a brick-kiln, where she and her family used to work as labourers, for her rape Monday.
The police have booked the accused on charges of rape and abetment to suicide.
Both of them were absconding after the incident, a district police official said today.
He added that teams were being sent to nab them. (IANS) |
