Allahabad: The Nithari Killing case witnessed some surprising changes today with Allahabad High Court upholding its decision to award death sentencE to the key accused Surinder Kohli. In a more surprising revelation, the co-accused Moninder Singh Pandher has been acquitted of all charges by the court. The judgement on the criminal appeals of Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli was previously postponed by the Allahabad High Court on Aug 6, 2009. The both accused of the Nithari case had earlier challenged the death sentence given to them by a lower court.
It is to be noted that Pandher and his domestic help Koli were awarded capital punishment on February 13 by by a Special CBI court for raping and murdering a 14-year-girl at their residence. Moreover, they were also accused of having raped and murdered other girls of the nearby villages as police recovered a bulk number of human skeletons from their home in December, 2006. |
