Kathmandu, Aug 5: The maverick "Bikini Killer" Charles Sobhraj has got the support of UN when it comes to get justice in his trial. In a recent declaration, the UN has given him a clean chit. The international body has supported Sobhraj's contention that he did not get a fair trial in Nepal.

UN has asked the Nepal government to release him and also pay him compensation.

After this decision was taken by the UN, Sobhraj will now look forward to see the French government taking strict action to ensure that he is being his released from Kathmandu's Central Jail.

On Wednesday, Human Rights Committee (HRC) of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights sent an 11-page document to Sobhraj's French lawyer Isabelle Coutant-Peyre. The document contained detailed information on the decisions taken by the UN during its 99th session in Geneva held this July.

After Sobhraj's French lawyer successfully filed a complaint in November 2008 accusing the government of sentencing Sobhraj to life imprisonment following an unfair trial, Human Rights Committee took up his case.

Isabelle had also complained that her client was arbitrarily arrested.

In another turn of events, Sobhraj's Nepalese lawyer Shakuntala Thapa, and his Nepali fiancée Nihita Biswas are facing contempt of court proceedings for levelling similar charges.
