Two held for human trafficking in Noida |

| Noida: Two people belonging to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands were arrested here today for allegedly duping over 50 people with the promise of sending them abroad, police said.
Rajesh Kumar alias Bhawani Shankar, 24, and his live-in partner Toki Rani Roy, 22, both hailing from Andaman & Nicobar were arrested from the Sector-44 area today, police said.
While Kumar is a B.Tech in electronics and communication from M.G.R. University, Chennai, the woman is a civil engineer from the same university.
Kumar and Roy operated a placement and consultancy firm in Laxmi Nagar, Delhi, the head office of which is in Chennai.
"The two used to charge money from people after promising them jobs in foreign countries. At least 50 people were cheated by them. In many cases, they used to charge around Rs.1.5-2 lakh," a police officer said.
The mastermind of the gang Mustaq, a native of Bihar and another member Santosh are absconding, police said.
The police also recovered 34 pornographic CDs, a laptop, ATM cards and several forged documents from their possession.
"The seizure of pornographic CDs indicates that they also used to sexually exploit young girls," the officer added.(IANS) |
