| Aurangabad: India may have excelled in different spheres of life but it has perhaps made no significant achievements in reviving its social system. Today, the nation celebrates Women's Day with full charm; regulations were introduced to provide 33% quota for women in the Parliament and many others. But all these things loose their relevance when we speak about the different torture and misconduct being shown to women in Indian families.
Today women are still being traded and trafficked. Recently, a man sold her wife in Mumbai for the sake of Rs. 40,000.
Irfan Mian, daily wag earner from Aurangabad asked his wife Rehana to go to Mumbai to seek employment. After convincing her, he took her to a stranger's house in Mumbai. Irfan left her wife in that house promising that he would return shortly. The house owner informed Rehana that her husband sold her to him for Rs. 40,000.
Shocked and scared by her husband's actions she immediately telephoned her family members who came to Mumbai and rescued her by repaying the same amount to the house owner.
After returning to Aurangabad, Rehana's family members lodged an FIR at the city police station against Irfan and his family members. Police said that Irfan fled to Jharkhand and a warrant will be issued to arrest him. (IANS) |
