Mangalore, May 24: The day was one of deep mourning, escalating horror and frayed tempers. To top it all the day was dotted with searches. Investigators have been on the lookout for the black box of the ill fated Air India Express Flight IX-812 so that some reason behind the accident could be unearthed. The relatives of the deceased passengers have also been trying to identify the last remains of their near and dear ones from the crash site.

136 bodies have already been handed over to the family members of the departed. However, there were some issues in case of three individuals where there was more than one claimant. The authorities had a tough time even as families argued following rise in tempers.

The situation has necessitated a forensic team to be brought in from Hyderabad and take the necessary steps to set the situation right by checking the 22 bodies that are yet to be identified. The local administration had made a late decision to help the grieved families recognise the bodies and brought in a couple of doctors for purposes of re-identification. However, this step did not yield the desired results, which means that the families would have to wait for the results of the DNA tests to arrive. The whole process would take at least a week.
