| Mangalore (Karnataka), May 23: The black box of the crashed Air India Express plane has been found, police and airport sources said today.
The black box - the digital cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder - which gives crucial inputs to investigators on the causes of air mishaps - was located by a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) team which joined the local police Sunday morning to search for it.
However, a formal announcement is to be made by the DGCA.
AI Express, on a flight from Dubai to Mangalore, burst into flames after falling 300 metres down a cliff after overshooting the Mangalore runway early on Saturday morning, killing 158 of the 166 on board. (IANS) |
