Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 2: Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan today said Smart City Dubai, builder of the Rs.1,500-crore Kochi IT township, will be asked to say within 15 days whether or not it is going ahead with the project. Achuthanandan said the government will send a letter to Smart City Dubai Chief Executive Fareed Abdul Rehman, asking the company to express its intention. "The letter to them has been approved by the cabinet and it has been made clear to them that under no circumstances can the freehold property which they will be getting for the project can be sold. This would be our final letter and they have to let us know in 15 days," said Achuthanandan.

Smart City Dubai says according to the agreement it would get freehold rights over 12 per cent (around 30 acres) of the project and can sell the land. But the Kerala government is adamant it will not allow any real estate dealings. The difference between the two parties has stalled the project for the past six years. (IANS)
