New Delhi, Apr 6: The first Enrollment Center for UID has been set up in the office of Deputy Commissioner (North West) at Kanjhawla, today by Sh. Manoj Shokeen, area MLA (MundkaAssembly) in the presence of Shri Amit Singla, Deputy Commissioner (North West), Shri AjayKumar, SDM (Saraswati Vihar), Shri R.C. Antil, SDM(Election) and Shri D.N Kataria, District Mission Coordinator (North West), among others, in a simple function held there.

Govt. of Delhi has recently started the process of "AADHAAR" enrolment in two districts, namely District North West and District South West of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for implementation of 'AADHAAR' project. Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) North West district has been appointed as Registrar in respect of the eligible population under his respective Revenue district. AADHAAR is a unique number and no resident can havea duplicate number since it is linked to their individual biometrics, thereby identifying fake and ghost identities which result in leakages. "AADHAAR" is a universal number, and agencies and service providers can contact the central Unique Identification database from anywhere in the country to confirm a beneficiary's identity. Clear accountability and transparent monitoring would significantly improve access and quality of entitlements to beneficiaries.
