Gandhinagar, May 4: The national plan for industrial disaster management, which will also provide incentives to chemical units that put in place a proper mechanism for disaster management, will be unveiled June-end, a top official said here today.

Rakesh Dubey, director of Disaster Management Institute, said at the concluding day of the India Industrial Emergency Conference that the draft of the National Action Plan for Chemical (Industrial) Disaster Management was ready and the process of consultation with industries and state governments was going on.

"The plan focuses on on-site and off-site disaster management plans, training of personnel and also incorporates provisions in which the state governments must ensure implementation," he added.

Dubey said the draft plan would propose provisions for some incentives for establishment of proper disaster management mechanism as it involves a huge cost.

"We will also suggest some modifications in relevant acts such as Factories Act and Environment Act," he added. (IANS)
