MG International to invest in Himachal's afforestation sector

Shimla: MG International Private Limited, a Singapore based Multinational Company having its Forest Management Operations over a dozen of countries has shown keen interest in making investments worth Rs. 1,000 crore in Himachal Pradesh in afforestation sector by creating world class plantation fields and forest produce processing units. A high level delegation of the company headed by Shri Ranvir Singh Rana, General Manager and Shri Vikas Aggarwal, Head Finance and Projects called on Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister with their investment proposals here today.

The Chief Minister welcomed the investment proposal of the company and detailed the facilities being provided to the entrepreneurs investing in the industrial friendly climate of the State. He said that State has best law and order conditions for safe investments besides other essential ingredients for setting up of industrial units here. State is concerned about preservation of environment and would welcome any project which could supplement the endeavour of the State Government in carrying massive plantation drive not only to increase the green cover but also assure revenue generation for the local people by way of employment and self employment, said the Chief Minister. He assured best of its cooperation to the company for implementation of their project.

Prof. Dhumal apprised the delegation of the plantation drives launched by the State Government, with people in participation so as to make Himachal Pradesh a green and serene state besides a herbal state. He informed that green felling had completely been banned in the State besides use of recycled polythene bags, as precautionary measures to protect the ecology. He directed the authorities to extend all possible help to the Company in finalization of the project plan.

Shri J.P. Nadda, Forest Minister also briefed the Chief Minister about the project components and its implementation in a phased manner. He hoped that being experts in forest management, the company would also be extending its cooperation to the department for successful implementation of the plantation drives launched.

Shri Ishwar Dass Dhiman, Education Minister and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
