New Delhi: India has seen an increase of 43.76 percent in its mango exports in 2008-09 as compared to the year before, a union minister said here today.

"There was a drop in mango exports during 2007-08 due to quality deterioration on account of vagaries of weather, but in 2008-09 exports have picked up reflecting an increase of 43.76 percent in quantity terms," Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia told the Lok Sabha.

He said the government was coordinating with export promotion agencies such as the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) by providing them necessary technical inputs and financial assistance to help the fruits industry.(IANS)
