| New Delhi: The Ambani brothers - Mukesh and Anil - are starting their legal battle today right from the start. This happened after a couple of judges at the Supreme Court stepped back from two different cases that involved the Reliance Industries Limited because of conflicts of interest.
Now Justice Raveendran would be replaced by Justice B Sudershan Reddy. He stood down from the case on Wednesday. He said that when he heard that his daughter was working in an establishment that was acting as advisors to RIL in matters related to global acquisitions. He said that he felt it would be inappropriate to continue in such circumstances. The three judge bench would be lead by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and would look after the case being fought by RNRL and RIL.
Supreme Court adjudicator Markandey Katju also excused himself from the said case on the same day. He had been involved with a case between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, a state owned establishment and the RIL for a couple of months. This case was regarding the price at which naphtha was being supplied to a plant of RIL at Raigad. |
