Mumbai, June 8: Nearly three months after the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested two men for allegedly planning to target the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) headquarters and malls in Mumbai, a charge sheet was filed against them today in a local court, officials said.

Filed in the court of Mazgaon Metropolitan Magistrate S.B.Chavan, it charges Abdul Latif alias Guddu, 29, and Riyaz Ali alias Rehan, 23, under various sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and section 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house or property) of the Indian Penal Code, according to the ATS.

"The charge sheet was filed today (Tuesday) and we will receive it in two days. We will decide our defence strategy after carefully going through it," said Ram Dayal Chauhan, the duo's lawyer.

The ATS arrested Latif and Ali from near Matunga railway station on March 13 for allegedly plotting a terror strike with a Pakistan-based "uncle". Apart from the ONGC headquarters, they planned to attack Mangaldas Market and Thakkar Mall, the ATS officials said. (IANS)
