New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday assured the nation that his government was doing everything possible to ensure the safety of Indian nuclear installations. "We do all within our power to ensure the security and safety of our nuclear installations. Let me assure that," Manmohan Singh told reporters here when asked about media reports about the terrorist threat to the country's nuclear facilities.

Nuclear power centres in India, particularly the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) at Trombay, near Mumbai, were put on high alert on Monday after intelligence agencies warned of threat perception from terror groups to atomic power installations.

Nuclear installations are protected by multi-level security arrangements involving a combination of different security agencies, paramilitary and armed forces. (IAMS)
