David Headley admitted to playing a role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack
Washington, June 11: Indian investigators have spent seven days questioning a Pakistani-American in the United States who has admitted to playing a role in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack, the US Justice Department said on Thursday. The Justice Department did not reveal the nature of the questioning posed to David Headley, who pleaded guilty to 12 terrorism charges on March 18 in a federal court in Illinois and remains in US custody.

India for some time had been seeking access to Headley. The Justice Department said in a statement that Indian officials were granted access to him "as part of the cooperation and partnership between the United States and India in the fight against international terrorism".

The November 26, 2008, terrorist attack in Mumbai was believed to have been carried out by the Pakistani-based Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group. The coordinating attack left 173 people dead. (IANS)
