List of proposed states in India

New Delhi: Telangana is not a secluded incident anymore as every other day new states are demanding separation with a view to divide big states into smaller ones to govern them better. Following is the list of proposed states demanded by the supporters across the states in India:

Uttar Pradesh: Chief Minister Mayawati gave the call to split the state into Bundelkhand, Harit Pradesh and Purvanchal state. Bundelkhand state will comprise districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Bihar: Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief Lalu Yadav followed soon with his demand for creation of separate states like Purvanchal and Bundelkhand. He also sought creation of Mithilanchal state comprising districts of Northern Bihar. A separate Seemanchal state is also demanded which will comprise Purnia, Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur, Supaul and Khagaria districts. There has been suggestion to create a separate sate of Bhojpur, a Bhojpuri speaking state, comprising Eastern Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Bihar.

West Bengal: Gorkha Janamukti Morcha workers of West Bengal demand a separate state of Gorkhaland. Greater Cooch Behar State is also sought out of parts of West Bengal and Assam. Demand for the creation of Kantapur state is also strong as the supporters demand the state to be carved out parts of West Bengal and Bihar.

Assam: Prominent ethnic groups like Bodos, the Karbis, and the Dimasa tribes in Assam are demanding Bodoland, Karbi homeland and Dimaraji state. ANVC, the militant outfit in the Garo region, seeks separate Garoland.

Rajasthan: Demand for the formation of a state of Maru Pradesh has come up on the basis that western Rajasthan has been ignored by the ones in Jaipur.

Maharashtra: Demand for a separate Vidharbha state has already begun in Nagpur with the aim to bring in some development for this economically backward region of the state.

Orissa: Separate Koshal state is in the list of fresh demands, which will include 10 district of Western Orissa who speaks Sambalpuri language and not Oriya.

Tamil Nadu: PMK founder S Ramadoss has already given the call for division of Tamil Nadu asserting that it would be a healthy decision for administrative purpose.

Karnataka: The activists have also called for a separate state for the Coorg region of Karnataka.
