| Kolkata, July 27: Maoist guerrillas triggered a landmine explosion blowing up a culvert in West Bengal's West Midnapore district today, police said. No one was hurt.
The incident occurred at Boirasole village, 15 km from the district headquarters of Midnapore town.
A large contingent of joint security forces, comprising central paramilitary troopers and armed police personnel, cordoned off the spot, said a police official.
The explosion comes a day after security forces gunned down six Maoist action squad members at Metla forest under Goaltore police station. Among those killed was top commander Sidhu Soren.
The Maoists are also active in the Purulia and Bankura districts. (IANS) |
