| Kolkata: Maoist insurgents are mulling on attacking Kolkata some time before the 2011 assembly elections and they have already started to identify the targets. Arrested Maoist military commander 'Telugu' Deepak informed police about these developments.
It was only few days back that Maoist military strategist Kishanji had told the media that the group's next target is to attack cities and towns. Deepak's words match the statement given by Kishenji.
As per the reports, Deepak has admitted the fact that Maoists have embarked on an intensive scouting work in Kolkata and are disseminating their ideology among the people. Even the CID's interim report finds a mention of this development.
The report, which contains intelligence inputs since the Maoist leader refuses to reveal anything about the Maoist's future plans.
Police are of the opinion that Deepak tried every possible way to hide their efforts to bolster their support base in urban areas. He had also claimed that Maoists are responsible for the violence at Lumtex Jute Mill in Titagarh in May 2008. |
