Maoists open fire at six places in Chhattisgarh |

| Raipur, July 14: Maoist guerillas resorted to simultaneous firing at camps of police and the anti-Maoist Salwa Judum activists at six places in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night, police said. No casualty was reported so far.
Maoists began firing from six forested interior areas in Sukma and Konta blocks of Dantewada district - one of India's worst insurgency-hit districts, some 480 km south of capital Raipur.
"They are firing a few shots from enough distance at police and Salwa Judum (anti-Maoist movement) camps and police are retaliating. Since there is total darkness now in this forested pocket, so I can't say about casualties suffered by any side," Bastar's Inspector General of Police T.J. Longkumer told the media over phone from Jagdalpur.
A senior official at police headquarters here said that gun battle at two areas had ended and "occasional firing" was on at four areas but no casualty or injury was reported from anywhere. (IANS) |
