Maoists attack police station in Orissa |

| Bhubaneswar, July 16: A group of around 70 Maoists late Thursday night attacked a police station in Orissa's Nabrangpur district and triggered a blast, police said.
The rebels attacked the police station at Kundai village under Raighar block, some 700 from state capital Bhubaneswar, at about 10 p.m. when no policemen was inside, a police officer from the area told the media.
According to preliminary information, the rebels also triggered a blast. It was not immediately known if they blasted the police station, he said.
In a separate incident, suspected Maoists early Thursday killed a teenager and torched the house of a home guard in a village in state's Mayurbhanj district.
A group of about 20-30 suspected rebels dragged 15-year-old Sukanta Murmu from his home at Handibhanga village under Suliapada police station area and later killed him slitting his throat, a senior district police official told the media.
The rebels also torched the house of Rama Marandi, a home guard in the same village, he said. The district of Mayurbhanj is located about 300 km from state capital Bhubaneswar. (IANS) |
