Government has spent 9 crore on Liberhan Commission

New Delhi: The Central government today declared that it has spent more than Rs 9 crore on Liberhan Commission set up to investigate the demolition of Ram Janma Bhoomi-Babri Masjid structure, which happened on December 6, 1992 in Ayodhya.

Minister of state for home affairs Ajay Maken told Rajya Sabha informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply that an amount of Rs 900.02 lakh was spent on the Liberhan Ayodhya Commission of Inquiry.

His reports reveal that a total of Rs 9.02 crore was given to the commission during the long tenure of 17 years. Justifying the expenditure incurred, Maken added that the Liberhan Ayodhya Commission of Inquiry was set up for a definite matter of public importance.

Giving an overview of the Liberhan report, Maken added that the commission was set up on given extension on 49 occasions ever since it was set up back on December 16, 1992.
