Srinagar, Aug 20: The problems in Kashmir valley are getting confounded with both internal and external forces taking the situation to a worse state. As per the reports, the Sikh community in Kashmir has received letters from Islamic militant threatening them either to embrace Islam or prepare to leave the valley.

The militants have also asked them to join the protests against civilian killings.

A Kashmiri Sikhs organization admitted that the community members have received unsigned letters. Jagmohan Singh Raina, coordinator of All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (ASCC) stated that the 60,000-strong Sikh community has decided to stay put and counter these threats.

One of the letters urged the Sikh community to "share the grief and sorrow of Kashmiris" and launch protests inside gurdwaras against civilian killing. Some letters have directly asked Sikhs to embrace Islam.

Raina has urged Hurriyat, JKLF and PoK-based United Jihad Council to pay heed to these issues in order to maintain the congenial circumstances in the Kashmir valley.

However, separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has reassured the Sikhs of safety and urged them not to panic even if they encounter such letters again. (IANS)
