Missing teen's body fished out, north Kashmir tense |

| Srinagar, Aug 10: The body of a teenager, who had been missing since July 28 after allegedly being arrested by security forces, was today fished out from a stream in north Kashmir Baramulla district, causing tension in the region.
"The body of Faraq Bukhari, 18, who had been missing since July 28 from his native Kreeri village in Baramulla was fished out today from Ningli stream in Choora village," a senior police officer said here.
The teenager had allegedly been arrested by security forces on July 28 after violent protests broke out in Kreeri village.
Relatives and villagers had attacked and torched a police camp in the village immediately after Bukhari went missing.
Hundreds of villagers from Choora, Kreeri and adjacent villages gathered in Choora Tuesday, carrying the teenager's body in a procession.
The atmosphere was tense as protesters blocked the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad national highway at Choora village as well.
Since June 11, fifty civilians have died in firing by security forces during violent clashes in the Kashmir Valley. (IANS) |
